Funeral Programs Project
Funeral programs can be a boon for the family researcher. They often contain invaluable information about ancestors and their families, including vital statistics; dates of birth, death, marriage and baptisms; and even photographs.
IAAGG members are concluding a multi-year project to gather, compile and index funeral programs for more than 1,500 African
Americans, from 1871 to the present. The compilation has a strong focus on people with Indiana ties, but includes black Americans from as far away as Paris! Following the release of the index, the group will work toward publishing alphabetical, bound volumes of the programs.
The index to the compilation is now avaialble .
The cost is $15.
