August 21, 2010--IAAGG will meet from 12 to 3 pm at the Indiana State Library in Indianapolis. Our topic will be “The Care, Handling and Housing of Archival Records.” Elizabeth Hague of the Indiana State Archives Conservation Lab will provide a brief introduction into the handling, housing, and care of historic records. We will cover the proper way to store records and also the safest environment for them. We will touch on housekeeping in storage areas. Care of records will be presented from a preservation point of view. Hague will include sources from which to buy archival supplies. Preceding Hague’s presentation will be a an hour dedicated to research and education. IAAGG member Nancy Wysinger will lead attendees in preparing for onsite research during the group’s upcoming trip to the Allen County Library.

September 18, 2010--IAAGG will sponsor a Bus Trip to the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne. The bus will depart Indianapolis at 6:30 am and return by 8 pm. The Allen County Library is the second largest genealogy repository in America, with more than 350,000 printed volumes, 513,000 items of microfilm and microfiche, and access to important databases including ProQuest’s African American Heritage database. Allen County is undeniably a treasure trove for family researchers. You don’t want to miss this trip!

The cost of the trip is $30 per person for IAAGG members, $35 for nonmembers. Spaces must be reserved in advance. The deadline for reservations and payment is August 31. Register at one of IAAGG’s meetings or contact indplsaagenegroup@yahoo.com to make other arrangements. This trip will happen in lieu of IAAGG’s regular September meeting.

October 16, 2010--IAAGG will hold their 2010 Annual Conference from 9 am to 4:30 pm at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, located at the White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis. This year’s conference features:

The official hotel of the 2010 IAAGG Conference is the Fairfield Inn & Suites Indianapolis Downtown, located just across the street from the conference venue.
